The scuba regulator is the bridge between you and your air supply. This essential device transforms the high-pressure air in your tank to a breathable pressure. The regulator consists of two stages: the first stage connects to the tank, reduces the air pressure to an intermediate level; the second stage further reduces that pressure so you can breathe it comfortably. Many regulators also include a pressure gauge to monitor the air pressure in your tank.

Cressi MC9/XS Compact
The Cressi MC9 Diving Regulator is an exceptionally designed piece of equipment that offers great performance in all diving conditions. With its asymmetrical front perforation, the water flow pushes the membrane evenly. This ensures perfect retraction and perpendicular cam descent, even in extreme conditions.
One of the outstanding features of this regulator is the patented Cressi cam pivoting system, which significantly reduces the friction coefficient between the cam and the diaphragm to almost zero. This is achieved thanks to the polished Teflon coating of the disc and the cam pivoting system, which works perpendicularly. This design reduces the initial inspiratory effort, making underwater breathing easier.
The MC9 has a safe and reliable sliding moustache, which completely eliminates the need for fasteners. In addition, the lid can be closed by a 30° turn without the need for tools, which is ideal for schools and dive centers, as it facilitates small emergency cleaning interventions.
This regulator features a matte-finished housing, resistant to aesthetic ageing due to friction, and an incredibly light weight of only 145 g for the second stage. It also offers very low exhalation effort, thanks to its unique diaphragm retention design, which directs the airflow towards the nozzles of the whisker, directing bubbles away from the diver’s field of vision.
The MC9 also features a new hyper-flexible hose with thermoplastic rubber coating for increased erosion resistance, and a polyurethane valve that is highly resistant to oils and hyper-oxic mixtures. In addition, it has a unique distribution chamber that channels air volume directly to the LP outlets, ensuring high performance use even in extreme situations.
Finally, the Cressi MC9 regulator is designed with an in-line mechanism optimized for maximum reliability and robustness, and with a completely watertight base that protects the mobile mechanism from the outside environment. In short, this regulator is a high quality piece of diving equipment that offers exceptional performance and unrivalled durability.

FAQS DIVE REGULATORS
What is a diving regulator?
This is the part of the equipment that allows breathing underwater. A regulator reduces the high pressure of the air in the tank, thanks to the first stage, which is screwed onto the tank, to a breathable pressure. Air is available through the second stage or mouthpiece.
How do I choose the right diving regulator?
Consider its performance and features, and your budget. The regulator (along with the jacket) is the most expensive piece of equipment. Visit our online shop to get the best deals.
How does a diving regulator work?
The regulator consists of two stages. The first reduces the pressure of the compressed air in the cylinder and the second reduces that pressure to a breathable pressure.
How much does a diving regulator cost?
Prices can vary widely, from 250 to over 1000 euros, depending on the brand and features. Take a look at our online shop to find the one you are most interested in.
How do I maintain my scuba regulator?
It should be rinsed with fresh water after each use and stored in a cool, dry place. From time to time or after a considerable number of dives you should consult your dive center for a safety check by a professional. Check O-rings and that all parts are in perfect condition for use.
Can I repair a diving regulator myself?
This is not recommended. You should take it to a certified technician to ensure proper operation.
When should I check my scuba regulator?
Most manufacturers recommend an annual service or every 100 dives.
What is an octopus in a diving regulator?
This is a spare second stage that is used in the event of an underwater emergency, in case the main stage fails or a buddy runs out of air. It is easily identified by its yellow hose.
Why does my scuba regulator have high and low pressure ports?
High pressure ports are used for pressure gauges or air pressure transmitters, while low pressure ports are used for BCD inflators and second stages.
How do I know if my scuba regulator is working properly?
You should be able to breathe easily at all depths. If you encounter resistance, you may need service.
What is a diving regulator made of?
They are usually made of chrome-plated brass, stainless steel and resistant plastics.
Can I use any regulator for any type of diving?
Not all regulators are suitable for all conditions. Some are designed for cold water, while others are for technical or deep diving. Always check the manufacturer’s specifications or the reviews you will find in our online shop.
What is the continuous flow button on the regulator?
This is a button on the front which, when pressed, releases air uninterruptedly. This is very useful for emergencies.
What is the demand valve on a diving regulator?
This is the part of the second stage that delivers air only when you inhale.
What is a piston or diaphragm regulator?
There are two types of first stage designs. Piston regulators are usually simpler and more durable, while diaphragm regulators are more complex but work better in cold water.
How should I store my scuba regulator?
Rinse it with fresh water, dry it completely and store it in a cool, dry place.
What should I do if my regulator stops working underwater?
You should switch to your backup second stage (octopus) and ascend safely. If your octopus also fails, you should ask your partner to give you air with his octopus. This manoeuvre should be as fast as possible.
Is it safe to share a regulator with another diver?
Yes, but only in case of emergency. This is called air sharing. It is done by using the octopus, or also by sharing the main regulator. In the Open Water Diver course they will explain you how to do this and you will practice it.
What does it mean if a regulator is INT or DIN?
This is the first stage adapter. Make sure it is the same as the bottle so that it fits. DIN is a little more complicated to remove and fit due to the shape of its thread, although it is smaller and therefore can avoid knocks or snags in and out of the water. INT has a thread that is much more comfortable to use, but on the other hand it protrudes more from the bottle once it is in place, so we must be more careful with it. Both work perfectly and give the same service.
